HASHAYARA offers a unique form of service in Jewish schools in Europe for Israeli teachers of Hebrew and Jewish Studies. Each year Hashayara selects experienced Israeli teachers who are prepared to devote a month of their sabbatical year to guidance and support of their European counterparts.
HASHAYARA provides:
· A personalized response that is adapted to the needs of teachers in European Jewish schools and academic programs
· An opportunity to learn the methods used by teachers of Hebrew and Jewish studies abroad
· A new educational perspective
· Fruitful exchange between colleagues in Israel and Europe.
Initiated by JADE, the Alliance Israélite Universelle's Judaism program in Europe, HASHAYARA is implemented in association with the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Israel Ministry of Education.
The program includes:
The presence of an Israeli cadet for a period of four weeks as part of his/her sabbatical year during the school year. The dates of this period should be determined by you (and the possibilities afforded by HASHAYARA.)
Our Cadets will provide 30 hours per week of pedagogic accompaniment to the educational staff of your institution.
Program costs:
The cost of the cadet's airfare, insurance and training will be paid by the Hashayara program.
The cost of the cadet's room and board and local travel will be paid by your institution.
The cost of the cadet's salary will be paid by his/her Israeli offices, in accordance with the financial terms of his/her sabbatical year.
